When I first came into my room, the message light on my phone was flashing.
I tried to ignore it.
You have to ignore it.
If you pick it up the ritual is completed.
I picked it up and pressed that innocuous little button.
The friendly female robot voice just said Thank You.
Then a distorted loop of screaming started playing.
I thought it was a glitch, or just static at first until someone said my name.
Every time I put the phone down that red light starts flashing at me-
and if I don’t answer it things start thudding against the walls next door.
The lights flash on and off. Something flung the lamp across the room.
I just picked it up. I’m so tired now. I don’t know how long I’ve been here.
It feels like years.
The friendly female robot voice just said that He was coming.
He needs me.
It’s flashing again.
I’m going to try and ignore it this time.
